Disadvantages of home schooling?
Wednesday, March 25th, 2009I have a friend who home schools her kids…..they are bright, well-mannered children but I worry about the fact they do not get the opportunity to interact with their peers as they would if they attended public or private school. (They also stand a better chance of NOT getting mowed down by a crazed gunman)
But, do any of you home school parents ever encounter problems with this? I’m just curious because my sister-in-law is considering taking her kids out of public school and home schooling. This concerns me because both my niece and my nephew are currently very involved with school sports and clubs and other school activities. My nephew is starting high school next fall and if his mom home schools…there will be no prom for him…not to mention the fact that he will no longer be able to play football, basketball and baseball for the school with all his buddies.
Online home schooling?
Sunday, March 22nd, 2009I am going to be starting online home schooling. I **** my high school and i feel like the teachers don’t teach anything and you have to go home and re learn everything. Half the time the teachers get off the subject what we are suppose to be learning. There is a lot more bad things about my high school too. But i was just wondering if home schooling is a bad idea? What if i don’t understand something i am learning ? To me there is a lot more pros about home schooling than cons. What do you think? I was also wondering if colleges still accept you like they do to public school kids?
What is your opinion on Home-Schooling?
Sunday, March 22nd, 2009Instead of going to a Public or a Private school, some parents choose to teach their kids at home to shield them from bullying and other bad things that go on at schools. Most of the time, the child ends up being too shielded and will have a heart-attack once he finds out what the world is like.
This is what I think of it, I am a home-schooler myself yet I have gone to public schools and chose to school myself at home.
(Home schooling is real schooling, real text books that certain home-schooling companies send you yet all you do is learn at home. Some people love it and some people do not, what is your opinion?)
what are some good websites to learn about why home schooling is good & bad?

What does ‘home schooling’ say about you?
Wednesday, March 11th, 2009Mike C asked in one of his answers: What does homeschooling say about you? He also asked: What does going through homeschooling teach your kids?
I’d love to hear homeschoolers’ answers to these questions.
What I think homeschooling says about most HS families that I know is that they care very much about their kids, they are dedicated to them, they want something better for their kids during their childhood. They are willing to challenge themselves and put in the extra effort for their kids’ benefit and not pass it all off to someone else.
As for what does going through homeschooling teach my kids (aside from the character and educational benefits many homeschoolers see in homeschooling), I think it teaches them that family is important, that it’s okay to not be doing what everybody else is doing and that we love them enough to do what we feel is right for them, even if much of society disagrees.
Please actually answer the question and not provide just general opinions! Thanks.
Hi home schoolers and home schooling parents! I have a question for you?
Wednesday, March 11th, 2009Do you get to be apart of the activities your school district has?
For example: Prom, home coming….etc.
* extra info would help too! I’m confused at what I want to do with my children when it comes to public school vs. home school.
Thanks so much for your help!
I gave everyone a thumbs up! You all are being so helpful and I thank you so very much! =]
